About Us

Welcome To Stoaked

Making things has always been part of my family. My grandad was a carpenter and sculptor, while my father was a bricklayer and property developer, so I grew up in a very hands-on environment and was lucky enough to learn a wide range of practical skills from an early age.

Despite briefly thinking I might spend my working life as an accountant, I was always drawn back towards more hands-on work. While taking a break from accountancy, I worked alongside my dad on several individual property developments and, at the same time, qualified in carpentry and joinery.

I've always had a genuine interest in every aspect of running a business, but I've also always enjoyed making things. My interest in working with wood, particularly oak, eventually led me towards combining timber with fabricated steel. Why steel? I loved the fact that it allowed us to create furniture that was incredibly strong while also opening up an almost endless range of design possibilities. Furniture is a statement of personality, and good design has always been something that makes me smile.

Stoaked was born in 2017 when an industrial unit became available and I decided to go all in.Not long afterwards, a talented young fabricator happened to knock on the door. After a quick conversation, he agreed to teach me how to weld. Within two weeks he was working for Stoaked full time, allowing me to concentrate on developing the business and working on the timber side of our products. The business and workshop have continued to grow from there, although somehow I still haven't found the time to properly learn to weld!

As Stoaked has developed, we've also looked for ways to make the fabrication process quicker, simpler and more efficient. Alongside Stoaked, I am also a director of Quote and Cut, a quoting and ordering solution developed specifically for laser cutting and fabrication businesses.

We use the Quote and Cut plugin ourselves here at Stoaked when pricing and producing laser-cut parts for our own furniture and fabrication work. That means the software isn't just something we're involved with commercially, it's something we actually use within a working fabrication business. It has been developed around many of the same day-to-day quoting, cutting and production challenges that we experience ourselves.

My aim with Stoaked has always been to keep improving while continuing to grow the brand. I'm incredibly proud of the skills within our team and the care that goes into what we make. Every piece that leaves our workshop is made to the highest standard we can possibly produce.

Whether it's one of our furniture designs, a set of steel table legs or a bespoke fabrication project, we want customers to receive something that has been properly designed, carefully made and built to last.

‘We are delighted to deliver our designs to your homes.’
